Macbeth, Sailor Moon, Boromir, Robocop and Tywin Lannister

Has Aaron just gone mad and started to put all his fan fiction on the website? No actually, welcome to "Awesome stuff that was announced this week" or ASTWAF (continuing my war on acronyms for Internet segments that never go anywhere). Here are three cool things that have happened.

(Four days, four articles, what is going on?)

1. Macbeth announced, cast awesome.

He pissed? He pissed.

Sean Bean will play Macbeth, Charles Dance is Duncan, Ron Wealsey Rupert Grint is going to play Ross. If that doesn't spur you on then McDuff is being played by Nightcrawler's dad in X-men First class. I for one will watch that movie. The only question remaining is where is my awesome version of Hamlet.

Oh yeah, David Tennant and Patrick Stewart already rocked Prince of Denmark.

2. They are remaking Sailor Moon.

Now I didn't watch much Sailor Moon when it first came out, being of an age where my parents could probably still have over reacted and had me sectioned for over fondness towards a girls anime, but irrespective of that it is a massive cultural landmark, and that of which I've experienced via the various fans I've encountered, I can vouch for the quality.

As for whether all the lesbian subtext will make it through to "The West" this time remains to be seen. There are also rumours of the original Tuxedo Mask returning, but as of yet unconfirmed.

Tuxedo Mask, interesting pictured without Mask, nor styling top hat. This guy was a real O.G

Definitely hasn't aged well.

3. Robocop remake 2014, oh boy.

Oh my god this looks terrible.

Like, I'm talking worse than the Robocop Animated Series that me and Harvey have been meaning to finish for the past...Several months. How did they think this was a good idea. At least Judge Dredd was interesting base material that everyone just ignored. If this is successful, I quit.

Also, please check out the horrific Robocop Animated Series.

I'm sorry you had to see this.

  1. Who is playing Lady Macbeth, is it Marion Cottilard of Dark Knight and Inception?

    1. Unfortunately not, an actress called Charlotte Gainsbourg of whom I've never heard of.

  2. 4 articles in four days, that's just spoiling us.

Have the cynics had some kind of weird bet?

    1. Something weird in the air, perhaps Harvey's hayfever has finally disappeared.

  3. I think Rupert Grint could end up the best of the post Harry Potter actors. It's always the one you least expect.

    1. Indeed, and his career was looking so wrecked after Thunderpants.

  4. Macbeth..moving trees, a madwoman trying to wash her hands and a ceasarean section comes into it somewhere.

Don't ever pay for a private education.

  5. Statistically, there should now be a two week gap before another article:/

  6. The RSC are doing a gender reversal version of A Winters Tale, and a Manchester theatre has cast a woman as Hamlet. Interesting idea.

    1. I can definitely get on board with gender swapping, especially the latter.

    1. I'm disappointed in your lack of c uriosity. Just in case a small part of you was wondering, this is Klingon. It means: "my hovercraft is full of eels".
