What About Cynics Podcast #7 - Star Trek Into Bullshit and The Xbox One Invents Television

Here we are again. Another rubbish week and even more rubbish and disappointing things to talk about. All in all though at least this week has had alot of stuff happen, maybe not important stuff, but stuff that can fill up an hour of our endless time here in the Universe. If you're extra lucky like me, you also get to waste some extra time editing the background picture in to the podcast.

So what's gone on this week. Well sticking with the theme of discussing stuff that only happens within the entertainment realm, we'll be discussing the terrible mess that is Star Trek Into Darkness. We get to chat about the upcoming My Little Pony: FIM direct to DVD movie, Equestria Girls. What an honour.

Also in a gaming heavy week this week, the few of us who have played Pokemon get to talk about the future and past glories of the franchise, while all of us get to joyously pull apart the recent catastrophe of the Xbox One reveal. Destruction in its many forms will always be the most fun way to pass the time, so come and pass some time with us.

If you have any questions or comments, we implore you to feel free to pop them in the comments section below, or any comments section that's nearest.

  1. Letme enlighten you re tribbles. They arent dangerous, they are born pregnant. In THE TROUBLE WITH TRIBBLES episode of star trek a crew member buys one as a pet while onshore leave. It has a babyalmost immediately, thzt baby has a baby and soon the whole shipis full of them and so they get transported onto an enemy klingonship which so clogs up their ship they cant fight.

    1. Thanks for the enlightenment. Having not known this I just saw a furry mess shaking around on a table. It's still just an empty reference dumped in the film for no reason, but at least now I know what it is. Thanks.

  2. X box: Simon is right. X box one is an excellent name. It says 'never mind about previous consoles, it starts again here'.

Pokemon: half way through I could have sworn I heard a deep sigh from Harvey, or was he asleep?

    Enjoyed this podcast.

    1. There were plenty of sighs during that segment. Glad you enjoyed that part cause I was bored out of my mind

  3. I have to ask, why did you discuss 'my little pony'. Will you be doing any more political ones?

    1. Because our usual inevitable game of thrones segment got switched with the bizarro-whataboutcynic's MLP segment.

    2. Of the two, I have to say g.o.t gets my vote.

    3. Don't worry this was a one off.
So far as politics videos go, that's really more up to Aaron (Chapman), who is usually more willing to and wants to discuss politics and not just complain about games and such. I know almost shit all about the subject, as I think the recent UKIP video implies, but I see no reason why not.

    4. You got a lot of views after ukip discussion...and one death wish. Cant win them all.

    5. I'm proud of our death wish. I'll do more politics if the need comes up. But frankly I'll still push for a lame comic book characters segment before politics.

Perhaps my priorities are mixed up.

    6. The Right will learn to fear the name "Chapman"

  4. X box one seems to already be called X1 for short, although I liked someone's suggestion that the players would get called x-boners.

  7. After reading your 3mth review of the cynics site, was wondering how it has changed since then.

    2. You had had 22,000 visits across 89 countries, I remember. You were still uncertain things would work out. Game of Thrones and Porn brought in the most views.

    3. And now it's just game of thrones that brings in the most views. Man this website used to be about something, but now our porn loving audience has gone, I just don't know if I can continue

    5. The most critically abused fan base in history? I think so

    6. Not easily deterred, its true. Just as well really.

    7. Will there ever be more Mylo Xyloto? I think I'm the last one left
